ACT Statement on Baucus-Hatch "Blank Slate" Approach

Washington, D.C. Today, the Alliance for Competitive Taxation (ACT) issued the following statement on Senate Finance Committee Chairman Baucus and Ranking Member Hatch's effort to gather input from their colleagues on tax reform.

“ACT members applaud Chairman Baucus and Ranking Member Hatch's bipartisan efforts to make our tax system simpler and fairer. We support their 'blank slate' approach. We know that it will take tough decisions and compromise on our part to fix America's outdated tax system. That includes getting rid of tax breaks and preferences to simplify the system, lowering the rate and adopting a modern and competitive international system. This important step by Chairman Baucus and Ranking Member Hatch, along with the work of the Ways & Means Committee, demonstrates clearly that momentum is building to modernize a tax system that has not been reformed in over a generation. We look forward to working with Congress and the Administration on tax reform that grows our economy, creates jobs and makes America more competitive in the global marketplace.”
